Fangirl (Rainbow Rowell) BOOK REVIEW | No Spoilers

Ahoy!

Everyone's been reading it, and I wasn't lovin' it!

In a Nutshell:
Cath, who suffers from anxiety disorder, struggles to make improvements to her life and move on after starting college.

The Actual Review:

I really, really wanted to LOVE Fangirl, it was apparently so relatable and brilliantly written and is the prime example of what a Fangirl wants.

I didn't think any of those things when reading Fangirl. For the most part, I was bored. There is no plot and not a lot of direction and whilst some people might like reading about a girl who goes from point A to point b and back again, I didn't.

I didn't particularly connect with the characters, realistic, but pretty boring.

My favourite parts were the fanfiction extracts, I just love how Rowell incorporated them, both into the story and at the end of each chapter and share a likeness to Harry Potter, perhaps too close actually but I loved them nonetheless.

In Conclusion:
⚫️ Maybe it's just me, but it isn't 'soooo relatable'
⚫️ The characters are realistic but boring
⚫️ The side-stories are brilliant

Star Rating:

⭐️⭐️⭐️
